QUICK LINKS

Gadolinium (III) chloride hexahydrate is an inhibitor of macrophages. The compound has been observed to inhibit the specialized liver macrophages, Kupffer cells, that line the walls of the sinusoids. Through Gadolinium (III) chloride hexahydrate has also been documented to significantly decreased NO production and inducible INOS (nitric oxide synthase) expression in rat lung macrophages. In Rat alveolar macrophages both n vitro and in situ superoxide production was attenuated by Gadolinium (III) chloride hexahydrate.
