Gabazine is a specific GABA receptor antagonist which does not affect GABA-transaminase or glutamate-decarboxylase activitites. Gabazine, also known as SR-95531, is a selective antagonist of the GABA-A receptor. It is a chemical compound that specifically blocks the activity of GABA receptors in the brain. By binding to GABA-A receptors, Gabazine prevents the inhibitory effects of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), leading to an increase in neuronal excitability.
