FTα Antibody (D-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 kappa light chain antibody that detects FTα protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-FTα antibody (D-5) is available as the non-conjugated form. FTα protein plays a crucial role in post-translational modification of proteins through farnesylation, a process essential for proper localization and function of various signaling proteins, including oncogene p21Ras. This modification allows proteins to anchor to cell membranes, vital for their activity in cellular signaling pathways. The farnesyl transferase enzyme, which includes FTα protein as one of its subunits, specifically recognizes substrates with the Cys-A-A-Xaa sequence, facilitating the attachment of farnesyl groups to cysteine residues.
