Fructose-leucine (mixture of diastereomers) is composed of two diastereomers, fructose and leucine, which have been studied extensively for their potential applications in scientific research. This mixture is an agonist of the enzymes fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase and fructose-2,6-bisphosphatase. These enzymes are responsible for the breakdown of fructose-1,6-bisphosphate and fructose-2,6-bisphosphate, both important intermediates in glycolysis. Fructose-leucine may act to increase the rate of glycolysis and gluconeogenesis. It also increases the activity of insulin and glucagon, which are hormones that regulate glucose metabolism.
