FPL 55712 is a leukotriene inhibitor that specifically inhibits Leukotriene D4 (LTD4), LTE4, LTF4, and LTC4. Studies report that this compound is a competitive antagonist of these leukotrienes and is a more effective inhibitor of LTE4 and LTF4 in comparison to LTD4 and LTC4. Additional experiments suggest that,in vitro, FPL 55712 prevents metabolism of Arachidonic acid (sc-200770) into lipoxygenase products in murine cells. Furthermore, results show that FPL 55712 is also a slow-reacting substance of anaphylaxis (SRS-A) antagonist via inhibition of cyclo-oxygenases.
