Fmoc chloride is a versatile reagent used for the precolumn derivatization of amines for HPLC and fluorescent detection (abs.: 265 nm, em.: 315 nm). It is also used for capillary electrophoresis. Furthermore, it is employed in synthetic organic chemistry for the protection of carboxylic acids, alcohols, and amines. Specifically, Fmoc chloride forms a stable ester bond with the carboxyl group of an amino acid. This bond is resistant to hydrolysis and other chemical reactions. Fmoc chloride is an important tool for the preparation of peptides, peptidomimetics, and other bioactive molecules.
