QUICK LINKS

Fluorometholone is a potent anti-inflammatory agent. It acts by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor and subsequently modulating the transcription of various genes involved in the inflammatory response. This modulation leads to the suppression of the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and other mediators of inflammation. Fluorometholone is known to inhibit the migration of leukocytes to sites of inflammation, thereby reducing the infiltration of inflammatory cells. At the cellular level, fluorometholone also exerts its effects by inhibiting the expression of adhesion molecules on endothelial cells. Fluorometholone′s mechanism of action involves the regulation of gene expression and the modulation of cellular processes that contribute to the inflammatory response.
