QUICK LINKS

Fluindione is a hematologic agent and a vitamin K antagonist. Additionally, Fluindione has been studied for its effectiveness in addressing Blood Coagulation Disorders. As a vitamin K antagonist, Fluindione inhibits vitamin K epoxide reductase (VKOR) with an IC50 of 6.6 nM, including VKOR with specific substitution mutations. It also hinders platelet and fibrin deposition, as well as prevents the release of β-thromboglobulin and the formation of thrombin-antithrombin complexes. These effects have been observed in an ex vivo model using isolated human whole blood and induced thrombus formation through tissue factor.
