QUICK LINKS

Fludarabine phosphate is a purine analog that functions as an antimetabolite. It inhibits DNA synthesis by interfering with the activity of DNA polymerase and ribonucleotide reductase, leading to the disruption of DNA replication and repair. Fludarabine phosphateis phosphorylated intracellularly to its active triphosphate form, which is incorporated into the DNA during replication, causing chain termination. Fludarabine phosphate induces apoptosis in lymphoid cells by activating caspase enzymes and disrupting mitochondrial function. Its mode of action involves the inhibition of RNA and protein synthesis, leading to the suppression of cell proliferation. it interferes with the function of certain enzymes involved in nucleic acid metabolism, ultimately leading to cell death.
