FIV p24 Antibody (PAK3-2C1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects the FIV p24 protein of FIV origin by western blotting (WB), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). FIV p24 (PAK3-2C1) antibody is available as the non-conjugated format. Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) is a lentivirus that poses a significant health risk to domestic cats worldwide, with five distinct subtypes identified based on variations in the viral envelope′s amino acid sequences. FIV p24 plays a crucial role in the virus′s structure, forming part of the capsid that encases the viral RNA and essential enzymes, thereby protecting them during the viral life cycle. This structural integrity is vital for the virus′s ability to infect host cells and replicate, ultimately leading to the progressive immune system deterioration characteristic of FIV infection. The main transmission route of FIV is through deep bite wounds, but can also spread via mucosal surfaces, such as those found in the mouth, rectum, and vagina. Similar to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), FIV targets various immune cells, including CD4+ and CD8+ T lymphocytes, B lymphocytes, and macrophages, resulting in the depletion and exhaustion of CD4+ cells, which are critical for maintaining a robust immune response. The glycoproteins FIV p120 and p24, which localize to the viral envelope, are instrumental in diagnosing the disease, making anti-FIV p24 antibody (PAK3-2C1) an essential tool for researchers and veterinarians working to understand and combat this viral infection.
