Fisetin is a flavone which acts as an inhibitor of Akt, Cdk6, mTOR and PI 3-kinase and an activator of ERK. It may act to inhibit melanoma cell growth via its mTOR binding activity. Fisetin exhibits a high affinity for DNA binding, effectively inhibiting transcriptional activity by blocking the binding of RNA polymerase II. Furthermore, it demonstrates the ability to inhibit hydrogen peroxide-induced lipid peroxidation in vitro.
