Fibulin-4 Antibody (2C8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects the Fibulin-4 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Fibulin-4 antibody (2C8) is available as a non-conjugated format. Fibulin-4, also known as EFEMP2 (EGF-containing fibulin-like extracellular matrix protein 2), is a 443 amino acid secreted protein that plays a crucial role in the development of elastic fiber systems, which are essential for the structural integrity and elasticity of various organs, including the vasculature, lungs, and skin. Fibulin-4 contains six EGF-like calcium-binding domains, which are vital for function in connective tissue development and elastic fiber formation. Fibulin-4 is predominantly expressed in the heart but is also found in other tissues, highlighting importance in maintaining the mechanical properties of connective tissues. Notably, defects in the gene encoding Fibulin-4 are linked to autosomal recessive cutis laxa type I, a connective tissue disorder characterized by inelastic tissue, underscoring significance in human health.
