Fibrinogen fraction 1 is a protein involved in blood clotting. It is one of the three main components of the blood clotting cascade, along with thrombin and fibrin. Fibrinogen is converted to fibrin by thrombin, which then forms a fibrin clot that helps to stop bleeding. Fibrinogen fraction 1 is used in a variety of research applications related to blood clotting and fibrinolysis. Common assays are related to coagulation, thrombin generation, fibrin clot formation, and platelet function.
