FGGY Antibody (J-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects FGGY in mouse, rat, and human samples through western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP) applications. FGGY, also known as FLJ10986, is a 551 amino acid protein belonging to the FGGY kinase family and exists in four isoforms due to alternative splicing. FGGY plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism, particularly in the phosphorylation of sugars, which is essential for energy production and metabolic regulation. FGGY function is vital, as disruptions in FGGY activity can lead to metabolic disorders and have been implicated in the pathogenesis of sporadic amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a severe neurodegenerative disease that affects motor neurons and leads to progressive paralysis. FGGY is predominantly expressed in the lung, kidney, small intestine, liver, and fetal brain, highlighting FGGY importance in various physiological processes. The gene encoding FGGY is located on chromosome 1, the largest human chromosome, which spans approximately 260 million base pairs and contains around 3,000 genes, many of which are linked to genetic diseases. Anti-FGGY antibody (J-5) effectively detects FGGY, making this antibody a valuable tool for researchers studying FGGY role in health and disease.
