FDPS Antibody (104J2E) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects FDPS protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB). Anti-FDPS antibody (104J2E) is available as the non-conjugated format. FDPS, also known as farnesyl diphosphate synthase, is a crucial enzyme consisting of 419 amino acids and belongs to the FPP/GGPP synthetase family. FDPS is primarily localized in the cytoplasm and peroxisomes, where FDPS plays a vital role in cholesterol biosynthesis, post-translational protein modifications, and synthesis of steroid hormones within the isoprenoid pathway. FDPS catalyzes the formation of farnesyl diphosphate (FPP), which serves as a precursor for several essential metabolites, including sterols, dolichols, carotenoids, and ubiquinones. Regulation of FDPS expression by phorbol esters and polyunsaturated fatty acids highlights FDPS importance in cellular signaling and metabolic processes. FDPS exists as a homodimer and may exhibit anti-viral effects when inactivated by interferon-induced RSAD2, which can disrupt lipid rafts at the plasma membrane. Reduced activity of FDPS in the liver has been implicated in the pathogenesis of Zellweger syndrome and neonatal adrenoleukodystrophy, both peroxisomal deficiency diseases.
