FAM109B Antibody (D-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects FAM109B of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). FAM109B Antibody (D-2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. FAM109B, also known as IPIP27B (27 kDa inositol polyphosphate phosphatase interacting protein B), Sesquipedalian-2, or Ses2, is a 259 amino acid protein that belongs to the sesquipedalian family and features one pleckstrin homology (PH) domain, one coiled-coil region, and one F&H motif. FAM109B is primarily localized to early and recycling endosomes, the trans-Golgi network, and macropinosomes, which is crucial for intracellular trafficking and signaling pathways. FAM109B localization facilitates interaction with inositol polyphosphate 5-phosphatases OCRL1 and Inpp5b, which are essential for regulating phosphoinositide metabolism and cellular signaling. Disruptions in FAM109B interactions with these phosphatases are implicated in the pathology of Lowe syndrome and type 2 Dent disease, both of which present with severe ocular, renal, and neurological defects.
