FADS7 Antibody (NB-B10) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects FADS7 protein of human origin and Degs1 protein of mouse and rat origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-FADS7 antibody (NB-B10) is available as non-conjugated format. FADS7 protein, also known as Degs1 (degenerative spermatocyte homolog 1, lipid desaturase) in rodents, is a crucial multi-pass membrane protein consisting of 323 amino acids primarily localized to endoplasmic reticulum. This localization allows FADS7 to play a vital role in lipid metabolism by facilitating conversion of D-erythro-sphinganine to D-erythro-sphingosine, thereby influencing synthesis of sphingolipids, which are essential components of cell membranes and are involved in signaling pathways. Members of fatty acid desaturase (FADS) family, to which FADS7 belongs, are characterized by their ability to introduce double bonds into fatty acyl chains, a process critical for maintaining fluidity and functionality of cellular membranes. FADS7 gene is located on human chromosome 1, which is notable for extensive size and gene density, encompassing over 3,000 genes and nearly 8% of human genome. FADS7 monoclonal antibody (NB-B10) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying lipid metabolism and physiological roles of sphingolipids in various biological processes.
