FAAP100 is vital for the DNA damage response associated with fanconi anemia, being integral to maintaining the stability of the core complex and facilitating the monoubiquitination of FANCD2. FAAP100 is predominantly localized in the nucleus, where FAAP100 forms complexes with FANCB and FANCL, and proper function is essential for genomic stability; when FAAP100 is repressed, FAAP100 can lead to chromosomal instability and increased sensitivity to DNA cross-linking agents.
