QUICK LINKS

Exotoxin A, a bacterial toxin originally derived from Pseudomonas aeruginosa, has been shown to arrest protein synthesis and cause apoptosis. Mechanistic studies suggest that this compound causes apoptosis via Bak regulation. Additional experiments report that exposure of cells to Exotoxin A results in an increase in TNF-α, IL-2, IL-6, and IL-10 levels which eventually lead to apoptosis.
