QUICK LINKS

(+)-Etomoxir sodium salt is a chiral compound that functions as a reversible inhibitor of carnitine palmitoyltransferase I (CPT-1). CPT-1 is an enzyme responsible for the transport of long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria, where they are metabolized to generate energy. The sodium salt of (+)-Etomoxir has found extensive use in scientific research for in vitro applications, for investigating the effects of CPT-1 inhibition on various biological activities, as well as the biochemical and physiological implications. In addition, (+)-Etomoxir sodium salt is a PPARα activator and an inhibitor of β-oxidation in mitochondria.
