CJ-21058 can be derived from equisetin. It exhibits antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria. This activity is due to its inhibition of ATP-dependent translocation of precursor proteins across the bacterial cell membrane, targeting the SecA component of the bacterial translocation machinery. CJ-21058 shows SecA inhibitory activity with an IC50 of 15μg/ml and demonstrates good growth inhibitory activity against specific bacteria strains with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 5μg/ml, alongside moderate cytotoxicity against HeLa cells with an IC90 of 32μg/ml.
