ErbB-4 Antibody (6C5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects ErbB-4 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). ErbB-4 is a member of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) family, which plays a crucial role in cell signaling pathways that regulate cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival. Anti-ErbB-4 antibody (6C5) recognizes a protein primarily located on the cell membrane, where ErbB-4 can form homodimers or heterodimers upon ligand binding, leading to activation of its intrinsic tyrosine kinase activity. Notably, ErbB-4 undergoes proteolytic cleavage upon binding to its ligand, heregulin, resulting in the release of a soluble ectodomain that can further influence cellular signaling. ErbB-4 expression is highest in tissues such as normal skeletal muscle, heart, pituitary, brain, and cerebellum, highlighting its importance in both normal physiology and pathological conditions. With ErbB-4′s ability to facilitate critical cellular processes and involvement in various cancers, including breast carcinoma where ErbB-4 is often overexpressed, ErbB-4 (6C5) antibody serves as an essential tool for researchers studying this receptor′s role in health and disease.
