Eperisone hydrochloride is a small molecule. Its small size allows it to permeate cell membranes, after which it can interact with its target to exert its mechanism of action. Eperisone hydrochloride′s main mechanism of action is targeting Voltage-Dependent Calcium Channels (VDCCs). VDCCs can be found in excitable cells. Excitable cells are cells that can create an electric current. Excitable cells include neurons, muscle cells, and glial cells. Eperisone hydrochloride has been found to bind to human serum albumin (HSA) in Sudlow Site I of HSA (subdomain IIA). This bonding interaction is spontaneous. The complex forms mostly due to hydrophobic interactions and hydrogen bonds.
