EPAS-1 Antibody (A-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects EPAS-1 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). EPAS-1 (A-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. EPAS-1, also known as HIF-2α, plays a crucial role in cellular responses to hypoxia, which is a condition characterized by low oxygen levels. EPAS-1 is primarily located in the nucleus, where EPAS-1 functions as a transcription factor that regulates the expression of genes involved in critical processes such as angiogenesis, erythropoiesis, and glucose metabolism. EPAS-1′s ability to form heterodimers with other hypoxia-inducible factors, such as HIF-1β (Arnt 1), allows EPAS-1 to bind to hypoxia-responsive elements in target gene promoters, thereby facilitating the transcription of genes that help cells adapt to oxygen deprivation. Understanding EPAS-1 function and localization is vital, as EPAS-1 dysregulation has been implicated in various pathological conditions, including cancer and cardiovascular diseases, where oxygen supply is often compromised.

Does this antibody recognize mouse/rat EPAS1? Can it be used for IHC? I want to find an EPAS1 Ab only recognizing human origin. Thanks, Xiaoyong

Asked by: Eddiefu
Thank you for your question. Currently we only recommend this mouse monoclonal antibody, EPAS-1 (A-5): sc-46691, for detection of human EPAS-1. However, we have not completed our testing of the antibody for possible cross-reactivity with other species, including mouse and rat. The antibody is raised against a recombinant protein that does share significant (78%) identity with the mouse EPAS-1 protein, so it is possible that it may cross-react with mouse.

I need to use an antibody to detect the protein in samples of avian origin. Do you know if this mouse monoclonal antibody will work?

Asked by: jerojero
Please contact our Technical Service Department and we would be happy to perform sequence analysis and review our data to answer any questions you may have about additional species reactivity.
