Ent-8-iso Prostaglandin F2α-d9 is a labeled prostaglandin F2α (sc-201227) analog which is formed non-enzymatically via free radical peroxidation of Arachidonic Acid (sc-200770). This non-enzymatic production of biologically active prostaglandins is thought to limit the efficacy of Cox-2 inhibitors, and could potentially be used as a measure of oxidative stress. Ent-8-iso Prostaglandin F2α has been shown to be a potent vasoconstrictor of porcine retinal and brain microvessels with EC50 values of 31 and 54 nM, respectively. The deuterium atoms are located on carbons: 17, 18, 19, and 20.
