QUICK LINKS

Enniatins are a family of depsipeptides found in several Fusarium species. Enniatin A is a cyclic hexadepsipeptide. Enniatins have been shown to act as ionophores. The ability of enniatin A to form complexes with ions and transport them across lipid bilayers makes it of interest in studies related to ion transport and membrane potential regulation. This property is significant for understanding its mode of action on cellular membranes and potential uses in modulating ion transport in biological systems. Enniatin A is one of four major analogues of the enniatin complex.
