Emerin Antibody (8A1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects emerin in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-emerin antibody (8A1) plays a crucial role in maintaining the structural integrity of the nuclear envelope, which is essential for proper cellular function and gene expression regulation. Emerin′s localization at the nuclear membrane allows interaction with the nuclear lamina, a network of proteins that provides mechanical support to the nucleus and organizes chromatin. This structural role is particularly important in muscle cells, where nuclear envelope integrity is vital for muscle function and repair. Mutations in the gene encoding emerin can disrupt these functions, leading to the development of Emery-Dreyfuss muscular dystrophy (EDMD), a condition characterized by muscle weakness and cardiac issues. Emerin monoclonal antibody (8A1) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying the pathophysiology of EDMD and the broader implications of nuclear envelope integrity in various diseases.

What is the recommended fixation method for immunofluorescence staining with emerin (8A1): sc-81552 monoclonal antibody?

Asked by: DefinitelyNotMatt
Thank you for your inquiry. We recommend fixing cells for 5 minutes in -10°C methanol and allowing to air dry. The full protocol can be viewed here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunofluorescence-cell-staining
