Elasnin, obtained from specific strains of Streptomyces, exhibits remarkable properties as a reversible inhibitor of elastase. It manifests its inhibitory effects with IC50 values of 1.3 µg/ml and 30 µg/ml against human granulocyte and pancreatic enzymes, respectively. Additionally, Elasnin effectively inhibits human leukocyte elastase, porcine pancreatic elastase, and chymotrypsin, as demonstrated by Ki values of 93 µM, 69 µM, and 224 µM, respectively.
