EID-2 Antibody (C-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects EID-2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). EID-2 (C-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. EID-2, also known as EP300-interacting inhibitor of differentiation 2, is a 236 amino acid nuclear protein that plays a crucial role in regulating transcription through interaction with the p300 histone acetyltransferase. By binding to the C-terminus of p300, EID-2 inhibits p300 activity, which is vital for chromatin remodeling and gene expression regulation. This inhibition is particularly important as p300 is involved in various cellular processes, including cell differentiation and proliferation. EID-2 also represses MYOD-dependent transcription and muscle differentiation, and selectively blocks the formation of the TGFbeta-induced SMAD3-SMAD4 complex by interacting with SMAD2, SMAD3, and SMAD4, thereby modulating TGFbeta/SMAD3-dependent signaling pathways. EID-2 is abundantly expressed in the placenta and is highly present in skeletal muscle, heart, liver, brain, and kidney, highlighting significance in various tissues. Additionally, two isoforms of EID-2 arise from alternative splicing, further diversifying functional roles in cellular processes.
