Edwardsiella tarda Antibody (236/128) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Edwardsiella tarda protein of Edwardsiella tarda origin by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Edwardsiella tarda antibody (236/128) is available as the non-conjugated format. Edwardsiella tarda, commonly referred to as E. tarda, is a Gram-negative bacterium predominantly found in freshwater environments, but can also be present in human blood, urine, and feces. This bacterium is recognized as an opportunistic pathogen, characterized by motility and anaerobic nature, facilitated by peritrichous flagella, which enhance colonization and host infection abilities. Edwardsiella tarda protein plays a crucial role in bacterial virulence by aiding in host immune response evasion and contributing to infection pathogenicity. In aquatic species, particularly fish, E. tarda infections can lead to severe conditions such as gas-filled muscle lesions, often accompanied by a foul odor. Although human infections are relatively rare, manifestations include acute gastroenteritis, wound infections, meningitis, and septicemia, particularly in immunocompromised individuals. Treatment typically involves antibiotics like kanamycin, ampicillin, or cephalothin to inhibit bacterial proliferation and mitigate infection impact.
