EBV LMP-2A Antibody (15F9) is a rat monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects the EBV LMP-2A protein of EBV origin by western blotting (WB), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). EBV LMP-2A (15F9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a prevalent human herpesvirus that infects a significant portion of the global population, often without causing symptoms; however, EBV is linked to various lymphoid and epithelial malignancies. EBV LMP-2A protein, consisting of 497 amino acids, is characterized by a unique structure, which includes a long N-terminal segment, 12 membrane-spanning domains, and a short C-terminal tail. This structural configuration allows EBV LMP-2A to integrate into the host cell membrane, where EBV LMP-2A plays a pivotal role in modulating cellular signaling pathways. Specifically, EBV LMP-2A interacts with protein tyrosine kinases, activating the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) pathway, which is essential for promoting cell survival and proliferation. By preventing apoptosis and mimicking B-cell receptor signaling in BCR-negative cells, EBV LMP-2A significantly contributes to the survival of infected cells and the development of EBV-associated tumors, underscoring its importance in oncogenesis.

Can EBV LMP-2A (15F9): sc-101315 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: Dr Ninau Qelp
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, EBV LMP-2A (15F9): sc-101315 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
