QUICK LINKS

Dutasteride-13C6 is a compound that inhibits the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, which is responsible for the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). By blocking this enzyme, Dutasteride-13C6 reduces the levels of DHT.This reduction in DHT levels can lead to a decrease in the size of the prostate gland in animal models. Dutasteride-13C6 may inhibit the growth of androgen-dependent and androgen-independent prostate cancer cells in preclinical studies. At the molecular level, Dutasteride-13C6 binds to the active site of 5-alpha reductase, preventing the conversion of testosterone to DHT. This mechanism of action may be a useful for studying the role of DHT in prostate growth and cancer progression in experimental models.
