QUICK LINKS

Doxycycline Hyclate, also called doxycycline, is an antimicrobial tetracycline that acts as an inhibitor of a wide range of matrix metalloproteinases. It has been observed to significantly decrease the levels and activity of metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) in corneal erosion studies. Rheumatoid arthriitis studies indicate that Doxycycline Hyclate can block the degradation of type II collagen, and not type I collagen, as well as down regulate the expression levels and activity of MMP-8. Reports suggest that Doxycycline Hyclate blocks collagen activity and in smooth muscle studies increases smooth muscle cell adhesion, and changes the reorganization of fibrillar collagen matrices and cell migration. Additionally, Doxycycline Hyclate has been observed to alter the expression of apicoplast genes in Plasmodium falciparum, and inhibit tissue formation in rat tissue studies. Doxycycline Hyclate is also known as Doxycycline hydrochloride hemiethanolate hemihydrate, Atridox, α-6-Deoxy-5-hydroxytetracycline, and (4S,4aR,5S,5aR,6R,12aS)-4-(Dimethylamino)- 3,5,10,12,12a-pentahydroxy- 6-methyl- 1,11-dioxo- 1,4,4a,5,5a,6,11,12a-octahydrotetracene- 2-carboxamide hydrochloride hemiethanolate hemihydrate.

I am working with dox in DMEM and wanted to know what the half-life of dox is at 37c under physiological conditions?

Asked by: Danielvargas
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, we have not tested the half-life of the material at 37 C. However, we are able to provide the following information: After this product was stored at a temperature of 40 (+/-) 2° C with humidity at 75 (+/-) 5%, the product showed a purity of 97.6% or greater after 6 months. After the product was stored at a temperature 25 (+/-) 2°C with humidity at 60 (+/-) 5%, the product showed a purity of 89.29% or greater after 48 months. I have also included the link to the PubChem page which has half-life information: https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/54686183#section=Metabolism-Metabolites
