Dopamine 3-O-sulfate (D3OS) is a naturally occurring metabolite of dopamine that plays a role in regulating dopamine neurotransmission in the brain. It is synthesized in the brain by the enzyme dopamine-3-sulfate-synthase (D3SS) and can be found in the cerebrospinal fluid of humans and other species. Dopamine 3-O-sulfate is an integral component of the dopamine system and is involved in various physiological processes, including reward, motivation, learning, memory, and motor control. Researchers have discovered its involvement in regulating dopamine neurotransmission and its potential role in the development of Parkinson′s disease and schizophrenia. Moreover, Dopamine 3-O-sulfate has been explored as a potential biomarker for Parkinson′s disease and as a modulator of dopamine receptor activity.
