DMEOB is a negative allosteric modulator at mGluR-5. DMEOB exhibits reversible noncompetitive inhibition of mGluR-5-mediated responses. In general, group I metabotropic glutamate receptors are coupled to Gq/11 and are activators of phospholipase C.
