QUICK LINKS

DL-Norepinephrine Hydrochloride is a synthetic form of norepinephrine (noradrenaline), which is both a hormone and a neurotransmitter involved in the body′s fight-or-flight response. The DL form is a racemic mixture, containing equal parts of both the D- (dextro) and L- (levo) enantiomers of norepinephrine. Its hydrochloride salt form enhances its solubility in water. Norepinephrine is synthesized from dopamine and is a precursor to epinephrine. It is released from the adrenal glands and nerve endings in response to stress or danger. Norepinephrine exerts its effects by binding to adrenergic receptors, leading to a variety of physiological responses. In the central nervous system, it is involved in attention, arousal, and memory. In the peripheral nervous system, it acts on the cardiovascular system, causing vasoconstriction and increased heart rate.
