Diphtheria Toxin A Antibody (7811) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Diphtheria Toxin A from Corynebacterium diphtheriae through enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Diphtheria Toxin A plays a critical role in the pathogenicity of C. diphtheriae, as Diphtheria Toxin A is responsible for the severe effects of diphtheria, including the inhibition of protein synthesis in host cells. Diphtheria Toxin A achieves this by catalyzing the ADP-ribosylation and subsequent inactivation of elongation factor 2 (eEF-2), which is essential for the translation process in eukaryotic cells. The structure of Diphtheria Toxin A consists of a Y-shaped molecule divided into three distinct domains: a catalytic domain (fragment A) that exhibits an α + β fold, a transmembrane domain composed of nine α-helices that facilitate pH-triggered membrane insertion and translocation, and a receptor-binding domain that forms a flattened β-barrel with a jelly-roll-like topology. The intricate design of these domains allows Diphtheria Toxin A to effectively penetrate host cells and underscores Diphtheria Toxin A′s potential as a target for therapeutic interventions aimed at neutralizing toxic effects. Anti-Diphtheria Toxin A antibody (7811) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying the mechanisms of diphtheria and the interactions between Diphtheria Toxin A and host cellular components.
