Phytochemicals such as turmeric (curcumin) have been found to inhibit the growth of tumor cells. An analog of curcumin, dimethoxy Curcumiin, was obtained by the methylation of both free phenolic groups in the parent compound. With this addition, a 30-fold increase in potency was observed in the growth suppression of HCT116 tumor cells.1
