DFB is a selective allosteric potentiator of metabotropic glutamate receptor type 5 (mGluR-5). DFB shows no agonist activity itself, but potentiates the action of other agonists at the mGluR-5 receptor site (3-6-fold), without any effect at other mGluR types.
