QUICK LINKS

Dextran Sulfate, Sodium Salt with a molecular weight (MW) of approximately 500,000 is a large, highly branched, and complex polysaccharide. This compound consists of a dextran backbone, which is a polymer of glucose, that has been modified with sulfate groups, giving it a strong negative charge. The sodium salt form facilitates its dissolution in water, enhancing its solubility. The high molecular weight suggests that the chains of glucose units are extensive, resulting in a sizeable and voluminous molecule. This characteristic, combined with its anionic nature due to the sulfate groups, makes it suitable for various applications in scientific research and biotechnological processes, where such properties are desirable.
