Desertomycin A is a metabolite of Desertomycin. Desertomycin A is classified as a 42-membered macrocyclic lactone with broad spectrum activity against gram positive and gram negative bacteria, yeasts and fungi. As a crystalline antibiotic, Desertomycin A has both antibacterial and cytostatic action. The mode of action of Desertomycin A is not fully understood and there has been little investigation.
