QUICK LINKS

Dehydroacetic acid (DHA) is a colorless, and odorless compound that is soluble in water. Dehydroacetic acid operates as an antimicrobial agent by disrupting the cell membrane of microorganisms. It achieves this by binding to the phospholipid head groups within the cell membrane, thereby compromising its integrity and resulting in cell death. Additionally, Dehydroacetic acid has demonstrated inhibitory effects on specific enzymes such as DNA polymerase and RNA polymerase, which play critical roles in bacterial cell replication.
