QUICK LINKS

Deferasirox is a tridentate iron chelator that binds iron with high affinity in a 2:1 ratio. Deferasirox has synergy with gemcitabine together they can reduce tumor growth and reduce proliferation of cancer cells. The binding properties of compounds like deferasirox can inspire the development of technologies for water purification and the remediation of environments contaminated with heavy metals. The ability of such compounds to selectively chelate metal ions can be harnessed in creating filtration systems or treatment processes that reduce metal ion concentrations in industrial effluents, thereby mitigating environmental pollution. Research into how deferasirox binds to iron can provide insights into the design of new compounds with improved specificity or affinity for certain metal ions, which can be applied in various industrial processes, including catalysis, material science, and nanotechnology.

I've dissolved it in DMSO and aliqouted it. But if I am adding it into my stock staining solution pipette tip is getting frozen due to the DMSO I assume. So how can I prevent it?

Asked by: Liss
We recommend to store the aliquoted solution in the freezer, then completely thaw it before use. Once completely thawed, the solution will be not cause the pipette tip to freeze.

Any suggestions on how to dissolve in water?

Asked by: SCchem16
Thank you for your question. This chemical, Deferasirox (CAS 201530-41-8), is not very soluble in water and it is suggested to use DMSO which is soluble at 75mg/ml.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MoritaMorita, T. et al. (PubMed 25820160) investigated the effect of iron chelation on renal cell senescence and inflammation in type I diabetic mouse kidney. Administration of Deferasirox (Exjade; ICL-670; ICL-670A; CGP-72670), a high affinity iron chelator, significantly attenuated iron accumulation in proximal tubules and the number of infiltrating F4/80-positive cells without effecting blood glucose, hematocrit or hemoglobin levels. In contrast however, Deferasirox did not influence renal cell senescence. -SCBT Publication Review
