DECR2 Antibody (8D7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects DECR2 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-DECR2 antibody (8D7) is available as the non-conjugated form. DECR2, also known as 2,4-dienoyl-CoA reductase 2 or PDCR (peroxisomal 2,4-dienoyl-CoA reductase), is a crucial enzyme consisting of 292 amino acids and belongs to the short-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (SDR) protein family. DECR2 is primarily localized in the peroxisome, where DECR2 plays a vital role in the beta-oxidation pathway by catalyzing the NADP-dependent reduction of 2,4-dienoyl-CoA to trans-3-enoyl-CoA. DECR2 facilitates the degradation of polyunsaturated fatty acids, which are essential for various cellular functions, including membrane fluidity and signaling. DECR2 has demonstrated catalytic activity towards other substrates, such as 2,4,7,10,13,16,19-docosaheptaenoyl-CoA, indicating versatility in lipid metabolism. DECR2 is expressed in three isoforms due to alternative splicing, which may contribute to functional diversity and regulatory mechanisms within the cell.
