DAN Antibody (AT38G8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects DAN protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunofluorescence (IF), flow cytometry (FCM), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-DAN antibody (AT38G8) is available as the non-conjugated format. DAN protein, also known as zinc finger protein DAN, NO3, DAND1, or neuroblastoma suppressor of tumorigenicity 1 (NBL1), plays a crucial role in regulating bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signaling, which is vital for various developmental processes. This secreted protein is primarily produced in small neurons of the dorsal root ganglion and is activated by the transcription factor MATH-1. The presence of a C-terminal cysteine knot-like (CTCK) domain in DAN′s structure is significant, as this feature contributes to DAN′s stability and interaction with BMPs, allowing effective antagonization of BMP signaling pathways. This function is particularly important during embryonic development, where proper BMP signaling is essential for the formation of various tissues and organs. DAN has been implicated in the suppression of neuroblastoma, suggesting that alterations in DAN expression or function could lead to tumor progression. DAN may also serve as a neuromodulator in inflammatory pain, highlighting DAN′s potential role in both developmental biology and disease processes.
