Daminozide, also referred to as Alar, is a chemical compound employed in horticulture and agriculture to regulate the growth of plants. It is derived from certain plant hormones and serves as a means to manage plant growth. While the precise mechanism of action of daminozide remains partially elusive, it is believed to impede plant cell growth. Specifically, daminozide binds to specific proteins within the plant cell, hindering their proper function. Consequently, the affected plant cell becomes unable to divide and grow normally.
