D(+)Glucose, Anhydrous, also known as dextrose, is the most abundant monosaccharide. It serves as a key source of energy through metabolic processes. The anhydrous designation signifies that this form is without water, in contrast to glucose monohydrate which contains one molecule of water per molecule of glucose. Chemically, D(+)-Glucose is part of the aldohexose subcategory. The structure of D(+)-Glucose, Anhydrous includes four chiral centers, leading to the possibility of different stereoisomers, but the D(+) form is the most biologically significant.
