D-(−)-3-Phosphoglyceric acid disodium salt (PGA) is a glycolysis intermediate that has been used to assess the phosphorylation of glyceric acid in aqueous solution. It has also been used to characterize glutathione- and NAD-dependent arsenate reduction linked to glycolysis. Furthermore, It is involved in the synthesis of many important molecules, including amino acids, nucleotides, and fatty acids.
