D-(−)-3-Phosphoglyceric acid disodium salt (PGA) is a glycolysis intermediate that has been used to assess the phosphorylation of glyceric acid in aqueous solution. It has also been used to characterize glutathione- and NAD-dependent arsenate reduction linked to glycolysis. Furthermore, It is involved in the synthesis of many important molecules, including amino acids, nucleotides, and fatty acids. It is also involved in the regulation of cell signaling and gene expression.
