Cystatin E/M Antibody (E/M29) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects cystatin E/M protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-cystatin E/M antibody (E/M29) is available as the non-conjugated format. Cystatin E/M, also known as CST6, plays a crucial role in regulating proteolytic activity in extracellular environments, particularly by inhibiting cysteine proteases such as cathepsins. This inhibition is vital for maintaining tissue homeostasis and preventing excessive proteolysis, which can lead to various pathological conditions, including cancer and inflammatory diseases. Cystatin E/M is predominantly found in extracellular spaces, where CST6 helps modulate the activity of proteases involved in tissue remodeling and immune responses. By controlling these proteolytic processes, cystatin E/M contributes to the regulation of cellular signaling pathways and the maintenance of extracellular matrix integrity. The cystatin superfamily, to which cystatin E/M belongs, is known for its diverse roles in various biological processes, including inflammation, apoptosis, and tissue repair, making CST6 an important target for research in both basic and clinical settings.

Can sc-73881: cystatin E/M (E/M29) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Trav11
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-73881: cystatin E/M (E/M29) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
