Cystatin C Antibody (Cyst-13) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects cystatin C in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Cystatin C is a crucial cysteine protease inhibitor that plays a significant role in regulating proteolytic activity in extracellular environments, thereby maintaining cellular homeostasis and preventing excessive protease activity that could lead to tissue damage. Anti-cystatin C antibody (Cyst-13) recognizes a protein primarily secreted by various cell types, including neurons and glial cells, and expression is closely linked to kidney function and glomerular filtration rate, making cystatin C a valuable biomarker for renal health. Notably, cystatin C can form amyloid aggregates, particularly in the presence of mutations in its gene, which are associated with hereditary cerebral amyloid angiopathy and increased risk of cerebral hemorrhage. Cystatin C (Cyst-13) monoclonal antibody enables research into cystatin C′s ability to form dimers under pathological conditions, highlighting cystatin C′s importance in cellular stress responses, as oxidative stress can enhance expression, potentially influencing apoptotic pathways in neuronal cells.
